Do Server side includes help or hurt .asp sites

Hi all:

Just beginning to play with optimizing some asp based, non-dynamic sites for search and was wondering:

Do server side includes help, hurt or no difference when getting sites ranked?

I know that they are processed differently on an IIS server versus a trusty old apache.

I forgot to say exactly what I'd be using the includes for, oops!

To offload js script and css style sheets that are universal across the site.
