2 SEO Questions

1) The term I'm trying to move up in is "[2 word phrase]." When I contact people about linking to my site, I ask for a link to "[3 word phrase]" instead of "Site URL." 50% of the time, people dont pay attention and just put my site's URL as the title instead. My question is this? Do links without "[2 word phrase]" hurt my chances of moving up in "[2 word phrase]"?

It seems that lets say I had just 2 incoming links with the text title of "[2 word phrase]", I'd better off in that situation then lets say I had 6 incoming links, 3 with "[2 word phrase]" and 3 with "Site URL"

I guess this boils down to, how important is the percentage of incoming links with the term im going for, as opposed to simply the total amount of links?

2) Similarly, I'm still going for "[2 word phrase]" in this question. Within my site, I have a link to my homepage on each page. Does it make a difference if instead of the title of the link saying "site url" or "homepage", would it better if the links simply said "[3 word phrase]"?

This question boils down to, how important are links within one's site for moving up search engine rankings.

Also) I want to thank all board members, as I've been reading this board for awhile for tips on various things. its helped me move up my site in the search rankings in a big way. I moved up to top 1-3 (depending on the day) in our 2nd most important group of terms, and we're getting close to breaking into the very top links on "[2 word phrase]".

Apparently, my first post needed to be edited because I used a specific key word i was talking about instead of just widgets. I thought you could list any key words, but just not specific url's. Anyways, because of that, my post got bumped down a bit, so I'm just writing to get back up top again to see if anyone has any thoughts on my post

Giving people the HTML code can help, lazyness is just part human nature. Of course don't go overboard with the formatting with font, bold, breaks, and colors.

I agree with the previous post about laziness.
I'd also mention that the most important factor I consider when people ask me for a link is the content of the page requesting the link, I check them out very thoroughly and am very picky who I link to. Make sure your page is compatible with the tone of the one you're requesting a link from and make sure you send a personal e-mail to the webmaster, I automatically reject obviously form mail generated requests.

just my $.02...

Good luck,

This is why keyword1-keyword2.com domain names are so handy.

None of this "hi, please link to example.com with the term 'best widgets' - thanks."

People are lazy, and/or might not understand what "anchor text" means.
