hi

ive always had my page titles in the following format:

'Company Name - Product Name'

The 'Product Name' is keywords, but the 'Company Name' is not. I have liked this format becasue it identifies our company before the product, of which their are hundreds.

Are the SEs penalising my pages because i have used this format? What about the little "-"? Are there any SEO theories for naming page titles? Any suggestions for a better title format with regard to SEO?

thanks :)

the closer your keyword is to the begining of the title the better.

I usually target the keywords in the appropriate page titles (one set of keyword targetting per page) and use the company name only on the 'about us' and 'contact us' pages.

Hope this helps

I always like:

Keyword from Company Name

If it's a product:

Keyword only £12.34 from Company Name

Seems to do the job for me!
