Notes:

Last year Overture acquired FAST Search which then powered Lycos Search and AllTheWeb, and Alta Vista, one of the internet's pioneer search destinations.

Yahoo! purchased Inktomi Search and subsequently bought Overture, Making Yahoo Corp. the parent/umbrella company of Yahoo!, Inktomi, Overture, AllTheWeb and Alta Vista.

Yahoo! has developed their own search technology incorporating the best of features from all their properties. Yahoo! Search has superceded Inktomi Search at partner sites, and the previous Inktomi Pay-for-inclusion has been replaced by Yahoo's own new offering.

MSN is currently developing their own search technology, expected to make public debut some time later in 2004.
