I use frames, so, on my main page I have a no frames content (basically, writes lots of key phrases found on the website). I would rather makes these phrases into links to the rest of my website.
is that a good idea? ie do words displayed on the screen, and links carry same weight (in relation to ranking, though my website ranking = 0 as it stands)

Don't use frames! It is widely agreed they are problematic. Sure, Google will crawl them but most sites do not use them. Stay far away.
