In one of our industries we experience a SEO dilemma:

The major terms are totally occupied by a similar industry that deals with consumers only. The industry in question though deals with high tech stuff targeted to industrial manufacturing.

Again, both use the same terminology across the entire value chain.

Anyone having similar experience?

How to address if SEO constantly fails?

Thanks, Jens

This is a common problem where there are high value products competing on the same keywords as much cheaper consumer products.

You could use PPC and write your ads very carefully. If you do then you could also keep the bids low so that casual users don't click on your ads. Of course you will receive fewer clicks but they may be more targeted.

Also, you could write a series of articles about the products so that when someone searches for [obscure widget term] they will land at your site. Maybe more keyword research is needed, especially for highly targeted low volume phrases?
