we had updated our site about a year ago, yet old listings are still appearing in some search engines, i have thouroughly updated to these specific engines and had checked to see if there was an old copy of the site floating around on the server, but nothing exists. Any ideas?

Without knowing what search engines you mean, it's hard to say anything.

<edited - mistake - hotbot is ink - see below>

Since ink it takes longer to update than before (with google). My experience with the original inktomi: several months to 3/4 year. Looking at the current inktomi (also hotbot) the pages of my bigger / well linked sites are quite fresh (Feb 19).

Sometimes pretty quick (a couple of weeks). Deep pages / huges sites can take ages to get updated though (months to one year).

There's no engine that refreshes as fast as google. Submitting to the above search engines (unpaid) won't speed anything up. Many, many inbound links might help at ATW (rumours, i have no proof myself).
