We may need to change hosting company (ISP) where our non-profit site is hosted. We have fairly good ranking on some terms. I need to know if that will effect our current rankings. Although our domain name will remane the same, I assume the actual IP address will be different with a new ISP. Does this effect anything as far as search rankings, etc. Thank you!

I dont' think there will be any problem. We've done it many times with our sites. Go ahead.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld wedesign :)

Our experiences pretty much match webnewton's ... so long as the new hosting company doesn't suffer a lot of downtime.

hosting company (ISP)

Quick note ...

  • ISP provides connectivity (dial up/broadband service)
  • Hosting company provides web space

Although some companies do both, they ain't necessarily the same thing ...

Welcome aboard!

The only thing you need to be careful of is how the old/new host actually hosts your site. If either use frame forwarding or such like then it will have an affect.

Simon.
