Is INKTOMIS paid inclusion for Search Submit really worth paying for?

Does it really help or are there other better options...

I have a 2 smaller websites that I would like to get out in SE land, before Valentines Day, one is a [snip] site, the other a [snip] site... I have submitted manually to as many of the FREE SE submits, as possible and ironically for two other URL's I own, I somehow was listed in Inktomi's database without ever paying a dime. While I realize that "Search Submit" might allow me to get in faster than the norm, for the 2 newer URL's, would I end up in INKTOMIS database, regardless overtime? I worry about getting on a cycle of always having to PAY to get listed and that doing it this way will sort of blacklist my websites in the future, should I NOT decide to pay for another submission a year from now to INKTOMI. Has anyone else found any other benefits to using "Search Submit" as far as "ranking" goes or you just still end up at the bottom of the barrel for awhile anyhow. I just hate to throw money away and if its not something that is going to pull me up faster in ranking with these websites both being so NEW, maybe I would be better off leaving well enough alone. Looking for some words of wisdom here. Thanks!

You most likely won't make it till V day. Or even if you will, you won't get enough ranking to matter anyways.

Hey,

I find that submitting to Ink really is worth it.
You may not find so right now...but jump on the bandwagon soon, as Yahoo will be dropping Google and switching to Ink.

If you can rise the ranks of Ink, you will get listed on the top 10 of your keywords for MSN's search as well.

I find it odd you got listed on Ink without paying, but I bet it was a fluke and won't happen again.

Not odd - its actually quite common.

Inktomi is a crawler based search engine like Google - if you have good links, Inktomi will crawl and index you (The size of the inktomi index is smaller than Googles).

You do not need to pay to be in Inktomi - all the payment does is guarantee you get the page you paid for crawled every 48hrs.

Well the problem with INKTOMI as well, is that paying the $39, will only list your main INDEX page, period...which sort of rubs me the wrong way. And that is probably the only thing they are GUARANTEEING to happen, in that so called "72 hours" timeframe. Maybe this would be a good start and eventually they may still list my other content pages, but then again, they might not, since I'd be flagged as someone who now PAYS for submissions. LOL On the other hand, you're correct, chances are my ranking won't be that HOT to begin with and the whole idea of paying to be listed, when its something that would probably happen anyhow on its own, for FREE in 2 to 6 weeks, may be better in the long run. I have also submitted to Open Directory. Of course that one takes forever to get listed, as we all know, if I'm lucky to get listed at all. Has anyone used INKTOMI and actually found that in 72 hours it was a done deal...did it pan out...? Guess I will give it once last call for feedback.
