Hi

Not sure if this is a question for the HTML board but:

I would like to replace the first part of all my HTML pages with an include file, so all the pages on the site will have the same META keywords.

Does this offend search engines? Does anyone know if maintaining page specific keyword tags is still worth it?

Also, can keyword tags work OK outside of the <head> tag?

Thanks for any guidance here.

No. SEs have no idea if the content is generated from an include file or not. They only see the executed command, i.e. -- the included content.

The keywords tag has been pronounced dead in recent months, but there are still a couple SEs that pay attention to it in certain circumstances. Wish I could remember those details, but I'm sure they're here in WebmasterWorld somewhere. We take the approach that they're easy to add to a page, and who knows if they'll ever make a comeback, so why not keep doing it?

No idea, sorry. I've never seen it done that way, and never tried it.
