I have 10 links from my main page through to the main sections of my site.

These are text links with representative images above. At the moment the images are NOT links.

There is some repetition of keyword 1 in the links (5 of the links include it) but always with a different mix for remaining keywords within the anchor text. Always maximum 3 keywords per link.

I need to put alt attributes in the 10 images so that our site complies with accessibility guidelines.

I would also like to make each image a link to the same page as the text link below it leads to, to help users.

If each image link includes an alt attribute exactly the same as the text link below it, is this going to get me into trouble with the SEs?

I know there are ga-zillions of considerations re off-page factors etc but could you advise me based on just the above on-page factors for this question.

Thank you in advance ... Millie

I make all my sites compliant with W3C and bobby etc so when a client wants graphic links I always put standard hyperlinks on the page as well just in case anyone does still have problems with images or alt tags.

I have never had a problem doing this and it is a great way of designing a more accessible web site :)
