Glass is half empty

I'd like comments and thoughts on something. I've been running Google adwords campaigns for my customers as a sideline, reasonably successfully. Because there are a lot of ups and downs, I've considered branching out.

One of the areas I've considered is doing some SEO work. However, I'm fairly pessimistic about it (glass is half empty :) ). I know there's a ton of work involved, and I'm in an extremely competitive industry - not computers or travel but definitely one of the top 5. Plus I try to keep my costs low so that my independent one-person customers can afford the services.

Am I right to be pessimistic? Should I seriously consider this? Is there something else I should be considering to make my customer's online advertising efforts more stable/branched out?

I welcome you thoughts!

Hi,

If you havn't already read this 12 Months [webmasterworld.com], this is a good place to start.

I believe that you can do a lot more SEO work on your sites than you think you can. Reading the postings here and asking questions will do wonders for your sites.

Good Luck,

jb

I've personally spent the last twelve months following that guide and it has worked although I would certainly never considering offering to do it for somebody else.

I think if you are to make it work it is an awful lot of work and therefore cost to charge. Maybe there are quicker ways of doing things that I don't know about?
