I am currently getting recips for my site. I have noticed many sites using a service. My question is are these links any good? What does google think of them? I hand code all my links because I heard using an auto link service is bad for SE's. Also anybody have any good tips for linking in general?

I request all my links by hand. If I get anything that looks automated it goes in the recycling bin. :)
