The boss has submitted our URL to MSN and its bringing in a little bit of traffic.

Google 59.5 %
Yahoo 23.7 %
AOL 5.8 %
MSN 3.9 %

But by this inclusion, would we also be included by the Inktomi spider? and if not would it be worth doing so?

Many Thanks

If by "submitted our URL to MSN" you mean that the submission was from this page - [submitit.bcentral.com...]

then the answer is yes, you will have already been indexed by Inktomi. You can check this by searching Inktomi's index at [search.positiontech.com...]

If by "submitted our URL to MSN" you meant a submission to Looksmart then most likely Inktomi has you in their index also, if not currently it should show up within 2/4 weeks.

You could try a search directly on Inktomi's search engine:

[search.positiontech.com...]

The boss submitted it via

ht*tp://submit.looksmart.co.uk/msnhome.htm

I guess that means we are not included, does it?

Woah...you are in the UK...LOL.

The boss should probably stick to managing the business and leave the SE's to someone who has a little background knowledge of the subject ;)

The page you stated is for Looksmart UK. MSN UK ditched Looksmart results several weeks ago. If you are targeting mainly UK traffic it was probably not a good use of money.

MSN.com still shows UK Looksmart listings in the websites section, but that is supposed to be ending on Jan 15th.

Having the Looksmart UK listing may have got you in Inktomi, you will have to check to be sure at the above link.

If your traffic is coming from the Looksmart listing on MSN then it is about to disappear. Good Inktomi positions should however generate 15% to 25% of all SE referrals mainly from MSN (and hopefully more from Yahoo soon).

From your link:

"Submit-A-Site results are no longer included in MSN's
search results, and will not receive inclusion in Web
Directory from January 2004."

But as percentages says LookSmart UK results have already been dropped from MSN.
