Hi, I have a very small budget to start getting our site some traffic. I've been told by a colleague that registering with Inktomi is worth doing but after looking through some of the archives on here people’s views on the subject vary dramatically

Is it worth doing or will search engines find you without it?
Bearing in mind I'm going to register with Yahoo and Dmoz and I'm going to get the programmer to develop site content to help google searches.

Thanks in advance, G Morgan

Also, on the Inktomi site you csn't search for things, so if it isn't a search engine then what exactly is it?

(this is my first post so you'll have to excuse me if I posted this in the wrong place or am asking a dumb question, but I'm new here and new to being a webmaster (fell under part of my new job description) so am in need of basic help)

I recently launched a brand new site and did the paid for inclusion with Ink and Fast through Lycos. I also did the paid for inclusion through Yahoo.

Ink and Fast cheap, Yahoo expensive.

Yahoo was worth the money, Ink&Fast thru Lycos has been worthless.

use positiontech.com

my experience is that it is worth submitting to inktomi if your site changes a lot. askjeeves appears to be nearly worthless.
