Paid inclusion with large sites

Do Altavista.com, AskJeeves/Teoma, Lycos.com, Inktomi paid inclusion service affect the indexing of page links?

I've designed some large sites and would obviously like to have all the pages indexed by the major search engines as quickly as possible. Normally I recommend using the 4 main paid inclusion services for pages targeting keyword phrases. However for larger sites with smaller budgets this isn't practical. My question is if I use the paid inclusion service for the homepage or the sitemap will that help the websites additional pages get indexed any faster?

Paying just for the home page will not get a large site indexed any faster. In fact, it could slow it down.

Try submitting to Yahoo and leaving out PFI - you might get a pleasant surprise by getting a faster crawl than normal from INK, FAST and AV ;)
