Refining Web Page Design to Suit SEs

How to best create web pages for the SEs

Hi,

I'd like to know the best way to refine my web site design for the spiders:

Standards I currently use:

Keyword rich web copy (at least first 250 words)
Keyword rich meta tags
Use of H1, H2 tags etc
Use of Anchor tags
Use of Alt, commment tags

Questions on refinement:

1. Text at top of page in code - does it help spiders to use the table trick or CSS to get text to the top?

2. Navigation links - should links be designed to go after web copy in the page code(I use the standard left page nav for all sites)?

3. Order of links - should links be in the descending order based on SE relevancy? (I noticed that the spiders seem to mostly index the homepage and not often the other pages).

In what order do the spiders index your site - title, left page links, text?

Please advise, because as a web designer I wish to provide the best service for my clients.

Thank you

Different robots use different rules for deciding the order in which to read pages. These include:

- Priority to highly "linked to" pages
- Priority to pages with least number of URL directory levels
- Alphabetic order

Rereads can also be affected by date last read and last known modification date.

To the best of my knowledge, the order of links on a page does not affect things. Certainly our robot, Henry, doesn't infer importance for order of links.
