Offering discounts for links?

Tacky or a good idea?

We offer printing services to everyone from sole musicians to large companies. Would it be strange to offer a discount on our products if they include a link to us on their site? This would only be suggested to smaller companies and musicians. I know the importance of some of the sites in terms of PR might be low but the cumulative effect of several sites, as well as the exposure might be beneficial.

Thoughts?

what if ...

they added a link

you gave them a discount

they got their product

they immediately took their link down

could prove a very expensive form of advertising

I say go for it - just keep in mind you can find PR5 links for $5 with a little hunting. So I wouldn't make the discount to big unless you really want to be listed on the site.
