My main page has been cached on google but how can I find out the date of that cache? ie. when it spidered my site.

suggestion, for the future make regular updates and change something each time, perhaps always maintain a date last updated code in a comment or something.

That used to be possible with Comet Web Search since they used Google's SERPs and when you clicked on 'Archived Copy' it showed the date of the Google's cache. But that stopped [webmasterworld.com] 2 months ago.

So the only way to find out is putting a date in the page. It can also help if you can access the logs, to see when Google is crawling your site (but that doesn't mean the cache is always updated after a page is spidered).
