within the last month i've submitted a new site to the engines; haven't been indexed yet.

now i've come up with a better url----i'd like to replace the existing url with the new one.

should i wait until the site is indexed with the existing url before changing to the new one?

i'm thinking that there may be some hard-to-anticipate little traps if i start changing the url so maybe i should just live with the existing one?

I had the same problem. I think you need good content (long-term) and links to your site (to get indexed)
Personally I found FFA enough to get you indexed, but for good ranks more is needed

Webmasters used to wait months to be in serps of Google. Luckily the wait is not that long any more
