Pages listed with and without "www."

What to do?

I have a few pages duplicated by AltaVista, one of them is the home page. One listing is with "www." and the other is without. Luckily they were indexed at different times, with different content.

Should I do anything about this?

TIA

Hi Drastic,

I would not do anything about it. They both have different content.. I have a page that is like that and nothing has happened they just keep getting hits.

You shouldn't have any problems. The worst thing that would happen would be that they drop one of the listings.

I have found a lot of sites listed in various results with both the www. included/not-included.

Just as a note:

I've had this happen many of times with my sites. I had a doorway page as the root index page for a few weeks, replaced the page later on and submitted it again. Altavista listed both pages in their index for two weeks following the most recent inclusion of my last replacement.

Thanks guys! I was worried that AV may reindex both pages at the same time and I would get penalized. However, I don't see AV actually reindexing anything on their own.

Well I have completely reworked my site, changing everything I could after digesting posts from this forum and the excellent info at SEW. Time to resub and see how much it pays off.

Thanks for everyone's help!
