Sub Domain question

I am not sure which forum to ask this. Apologies if too far off.
I am in the process of putting one domain in a subdirectory of another one. I am concerned as the best way to get traffic to the domain that will be in the subdirectory. For example, the menu in the subdirectory. Should I use links such as : http*//www.firstdomain.com/subdir/anypage.aspx? Anyone know of any good links/pages I can look at to help make sure that I get the best traffic that I can to this second domain, much thanks.

Subdomain is good but are you aware that a subdomain is counted like a new domain and you won't get any benefit from the maindomain?

You can also do a 301 redirect from the old domain to your subdomain.
