Its been over a month now since i updated my website and google and yahoo seem to still display the old site results. does anyone know why?

On the other hand, the rankings / traffic did change - the cache was basically the thing that stayed the same.
I wouldn't worry about the engines speed in updating, trust me, if users like your site - their word of mouth recommendations will travel faster than any indexing cycle.
