using .html and .htm pages

Here's a question I can't find the answer for.

Since the server defaults to .html pages.. could'nt you..

1)Create your primary page named .html
and also
2)create a different index page using the .htm extension?

Anything wrong with doing that?

You could, but why. The names are to close and are confusing. I would suggest finding a nice keyword name for the file, since you will be linking to it anyway.
