Hey,

This is my first post in this forum, so please go easy on me.

From what I've read on this and other forums, I've have concluded the following (rightly or wrongly):

1. That only two or three keyword phrases should be targeted per page and;

2. That the optimal keyword density of a page is 6-20%.

Bearing this in mind I have the following questions:

> Should only the targeted keywords be included in the meta keywords?

> Should only the targeted phrases be present in the title and meta description?

> Are keyphrases counted if they are seperate in the text? (e.g. if the phrase 'red widgets' is present then will the text 'red are the best widgets' make any contribution to this target keyphrase?)

> Is the 6-20% recommendation for each of the individual keyword phrases, or is it for the total amount of keywords? (e.g. 2% density of 'red widgets', 2% density of 'blue widgets' and 2% density of 'green widgets' = 6%)

> If the 6%+ guide is for each of the targeted keyword phrases, then how on earth can a page be still readable for 200-250 words of text?

P.S. What is the <noscript> tag for, when would this be added to a page, and how would this be added to a page?

Apologies in advance for my ignorance! :-)

Cheers,

James

Answer to a couple of your questions. I'm sure others will chip in too.

Should only the targeted keywords be included in the meta keywords?

Meta keywords tag seems to be ignored by the major search engines. I still populate this though. Never know when things might change ;)

Should only the targeted phrases be present in the title and meta description

Targeted phrases should be there. Only targeted phrases? Not necessarily.

Are keyphrases counted if they are seperate in the text? (e.g. if the phrase 'red widgets' is present then will the text 'red are the best widgets' make any contribution to this target keyphrase?)

Yep. This helps.

If the 6%+ guide is for each of the targeted keyword phrases, then how on earth can a page be still readable for 200-250 words of text?

Don't get too stressed about keyword density. There are some good comments about that in this thread ...
