Im thinking of putting one or two line description of every page adding a few keyword in them ofcourse. Will i be penalized in any way. This description will be placed on top of the page in the body. This will be description of the page contents and what you might find in there yada yada.

I s'pose it depends on how subtly you do it...

If it just reads like a list of keywords, then don't do it - Somebody might report you as a spammer. It's better to design the contents of the page to be self descriptive and contain all the necessary keywords.

But on the other hand, you've gotta get those keywords into the page somehow and, as long as it doesn't look like a blatant attempt to fool Google, what you're suggesting should work.

Main thing is to make your pages look like they're designed for users rather than search engines - then nobody gets upset.
