Conversion rate for free trial?

I'm planning several campaigns offering a free trial of an enterprise firewall software. We are using PPC, text links, banners, and newsletter sponsorships to bring people to a landing page. The landing page has a short paragraph telling people to fill out the form to get the trial software and key for enhanced functions. I have a good idea what CTR to expect, but how do I estimate the percent who will fill out the form? Does anyone know of any benchmarks for conversion rate on free trial offers?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, HotMarketingBabe - great name!

Since this is your first post, here are a few pointers:
1) At the top of the page, you will see Site Search, click that and type in coversion rates.
2) Read as many posts as you can in the Google Adwords forum
3) Coversion rates vary by industry, product, and by Free Trials (I'm about to run a similar campaign for a different product) etc.
4)Try a search on google for "free trial conversion rates" or something similar - I did and that is why I am about to start a campaign
5) Be very aware of those just looking for something free with no intention of ever buying

Hope that helps, and welcome again!
WFN:)

Try to get some customer testimonials and try to include them in your campaigns. They work really well but try to have them original and not just.....!

Also, work on getting your product listed on software downoad websites and raise some discussion about your product in some of the forums.

Really works well...
