Automatic PR6 - do we need to use optimisation?

I spent months to optimize my site begging for links hoping that google will like it. And my friend made this site that has no inbound links whatsoever, no mind set for opimizing for any search engines, no meta tag, no descriptions, and his main page has a PR6.

What the heck man? Really, all these SEO are lies!

Your friends site could be a guessed PR - Geocities sites get a guessed PR even if they are not in the index. f you search for his site in Google is it there. If he is there then he can only have a PR because he has good links.

Now now, that won't help you....

meta tags = Nothing

A little time spent reading in the libraries here at WebmasterWorld should put you on the right track. Good luck.

no inbound links whatsoever

no inbound links = zero pr ... end of story

don't be confused by what the toolbar says and genuine pr.

why don't you test to see if your friends site is in the google index or not, i think as above that it is a guessed pr by the toolbar

Well everyone is entitled to an opinion...

However, from the knowledge shared here at WebmasterWorld allowed me to get my site from nowhere to #1 on google within a couple of months. After "tweaking" other sites I have noticed an increase in traffic - just coincidence - not really!

If all these lies get me a goog ranking I am going to carry on believing them.
