Recently I was checking my SERPs and noticed that a site was showing up (as #2) that really didn't belong in my market. Turns out his last name (which was in his TITLE tag) is one of my Keywords and that is why he was appearing in my search.

Assuming that he was not looking to expand accross the states, I sent him an e-mail with a few tips that would take him out of my keywords and probably put him at the top of his. I just got the reply, and he said he often wondered why he had inquires from my market, and really appreciated the tips. Also stating that he was not looking to expand his business, as I had assumed.

Now, with him in his proper place, I have one less site to compete with! That's the best trick I ever tried, and it's entirely SE friendly!

Good idea, it cleans up the search results with more relevant information.
