I have recently come across the suggestion by an Optimisation company to include a site search facility to improve website listings.
I have noticed that some results when Im searching do seem to come from a query that has been entered into a search box.
How does this work? and would you recommend it?
Cheers
A good site search should report back to you both successful and failed searches, which can be implemented into a feedback loop, by using some of the popular keywords used internally in your SEO tactics, then you may gain additional search engine listings under keyword synonyms you didn't think of initially for example. You should also be able to create new pages to answer very different queries related to one theme (such as one page that is returned for the keywords: stores, locations, retail outlets; shops; catalog, etc. )
they often provide a little insight into how users see your brand too.
