My site was getting about 5000 pageviews daily with about 850 visitors(not unique) last November and December. My search engine traffic was led by Yahoo and Google. I had never submitted to Yahoo. I would get close to 300 referrals a month from each of those SE. And maybe another 600 from other SE. In April, there was a sharp downturn. But still had referrals. May, I had 0 for both. Obviously I am a rookie with this. What could have happened to cause this? By the way, traffic has dropped bigtime. About 400 visitors and 1200 pageviews. I am a sick old boy over this.
Thanks.

(not unique)

It's important to track the uniques because it's a significant metric for judging the momentum of your web site's traffic.

For instance, although you may have 850 monthly visitors a month, but the uniques are declining from month to month, then that would be an early indicator that you have a problem brewing. It's important to keep the momentum going so that if you notice a downtick week over week, you can analyze the source of it and take some action.

Also, it's important to analyze the keywords that are bringing people to your site: Is it on target and relevant, or is it somewhat random or not too on-target? If it's not on-target for your site, that's not good because it indicates non-sustainable traffic.

It's important to mine your data for these kinds of indicators of what's going on.

Jeez, thats a bummer. G and yahoo supply me with 80% of my traffic. 50% - 30% respectively so if I was in your position I would be worried. Unfortunately I do not have enough experience to offer you sound advice but I am sure someone does.

Good luck

I'd catch up with the google news forum if I were you. Many sites plummeting from May onwards for no reason anyone can explain.
