I have decided to go through our site an do some more optimization... mainly renaming pages from www.homepage.com/color_blue.htm to
www.homepage.com/widget_color_blue.htm

A couple of questions?
Is is best to use all lower case
widget_color_blue.htm or Widget_Color_Blue.htm

Will there be any pentalites if i user a temporary redirect
from color_blue.htm to widget_color_blue.htm ?

How long should I leave the redirect turned on?

I planed on only doing about 10 pages at a time, is that too many redirects?

Thanks

I would use a 301, redirect permanent, instead of a 302, which is a temporary redirect format.

Page names, though -> is something I have yet to see as a factor in Google or Inktomi these days, though it's a habit, more than anything to use underscores & a name for the page that is relevant to the subject.

My reasons for doing so these days, though - are more for user satisfaction than for search engine rankings.

If you see Widgets_for_sale.html as a page name - and you searched for 'widgets for sale' it's pretty easy to read the page name & also, odds are -> it has the widgets you were looking for.

All In Caps Makes For Harder Reading, as page names, as do-hyphenated-page-naming-schemes.

Much_better_to_use_underscore_for_readability_imho. :)
