Hi guys,
I wanna know if there are any "formal" schools/courses availabe that teach SEO>?

If anybody has participated in such an institution, then how sucessful are they?

One of my local colleges has a class on SEO.

I can't imagine any of them are any good, but I have never participated in one.

I would expect all graduates of such a class to be experts in contructing meta-tags.

Hello darkroom. I'm not too certain there are any formal classes out there but there are a few informal ones.

I look at classes this way; they are only as good as their instructors. What better place to learn than WebmasterWorld. Some of the best instructors in the business are right here at the boards. Many of the Admins, Mods, Senior Members and even newer members.

What would really work best is if you can find someone to take you under their wing and show you the core basics.

You could also read through the various Libraries here at WebmasterWorld as there is a wealth of knowledge available that has taken years to assemble.

Reading the boards regularly will be your best source of information. There is nothing that compares to being in the trenches and being in tune with the industry. These days if you take three months vacation, you better plan on spending a month catching up! ;)

pageoneresults,
Thanks for your kind opinion..The thing with webmasterworld is that the more i try to read and understand about algo, SE in general, the more it confuses me and the picture gets more abstract...leading to more frustration...so i was looking for SomeONE(instructors)/school who is really willing to spend time and can really give me a clear picture. An instructor like GG would be very nice..GG himself would be even better :-)

I am not sure how vague/abstract the picture stands in my mind at this moment. Maybe the picture is clear to me and i am just being pessimistic or maybe the clear picture is yet far away or maybe very close. Of course the more expericene you get, the better the picture will get. I just hope i can do a CRASH course somehow.

1) When you generally start the picture is Hazy.
2) Then you read forums and get some definite ideas.
3) Then you read the forums more and realize that nothing is definite. It's a constant changing world.

Agree with pageoneresults when he says :-

Find someone who will let you work projects for him. Nothing is better than Practical Experience :) HTH
