I have a Yahoo! store. In my catalog section pages, I was trying to decide if I should have section description text at the top of the page, which pushes the product picture/links down the page, possibly below the screen for some more wordy sections and viewer resolutions. Or, have the SEO optimized text below the product pictures/links.
Having the product up top I'm sure is likely better for sales, but I'm wondering if it hurts for the SE placement? Or is a balance of both the way to go?
If text up top is important for SEO, would placing one keyword rich paragraph with a "jump down to read more" link make the engines happy, sandwiching the products between the text?
Your advice is appreciated.

You want a balance. You need to catch the visitors attention and convey what your site is about, in about 3 seconds. Don't make the user think. Make it painfully obvious.
If the user must click or scroll to understand what your product is, or what your site is for, don't do it.
What good is it to rank if the visitors don't get what they are looking for?
Having text at the top is not imperative to good rank. It can help, but don't let SEO get in the way of sound design.
