How long will I stay top of google search results with my main keywords?
Doing a search for <snip> (with or without quotes") will show I have 6 links in the top 10. #1 #2 #3 #4 #8 #9 and this has been the case for about 8 months...(Yippy)
Link 8 and 9 out of top 10 are out of date, but I maintain a link that directs back to main index.html page.

Should I change the out of date pages?
Will the change effect my overall ranking for top 4?
Is it better to leave things alone if im at the top, although I understand keywork, description and title use impotance for seach engines a lot more than when I first started writting web pages?

My advice would be to leave alone the top ranking pages untouched. If you are at the top already, tweaking the code cannot get you higher. Only other direction it can go is south.

If you rank #1, what are you worried about anyways?

Hi ScottOzy and welcome to WebmasterWorld! ;)

The best thing > leave ranked #1, & #2 and adjust the remainer to capture other terms.

Having 1 through 10 position is ego thing (but not a smart thing) it really serves no purpose beyond turning visitors away from your site(e.g. re-defining their search) which you are not #1 on.

If someone doesn't find what they want on #1 or #2 do you really believe #3 #4 #8 #9 are going to help.

It really is a waste of web page real estate since searchers don't all use the same terms. A simple variation of black widgets and widgets black is the same thing but if you are not #1, 2 on both you are losing out on potential visitors.

If you have #1 > move on to another term! :)
