More referrals from MSN vs. Google

I haven't kept up with all the posts for the Google Update but I gather there were some changes with how Google does the update, the update is not complete yet and so far people here don't seem too pleased with what they are seeing.

I have noticed in my logs that for the first time I show more referrals from the MSN search engine versus Google. I'm almost afraid to look to see where I rank for my keywords now!

Will it likely be a few more weeks before things are back to normal?

Thanks!

Palmpal,

you might find this thread informative - including very rough timeframe hints:

I am still seeing less hits from MSN (but it is going up weekly) but of course with fresher results. I also seem to be getting much better conversions from MSN for a certain product.

Thanks for responding. My logs today showed no referrals from Google. Also, I did check my website name in Google and now only my top level pages show up. All of my static product pages (about 50) are gone.

When the threads refer to "backlinks" being added back are they referring to lower level pages or links to your site from other sites?

Thanks!

My traffic from Ink, percentage-wise, is up too, probably 'cause Google dropped a few pages that used to bring a lot of visitors and are still at the top with Ink. Google/Yahoo/AOL is still about 60% after links/directories etc. Funny though, I saw more AltaVista hits today than I'm used to.
