A quick SEO question.

Which page title form is best?

Is it better to have a page title that goes:
"Widgets, Gadgets, and Keyword from Smith Brothers"
or
"Smith Brothers - Widgets, Gadgets, and Keyword"

or does it matter which way at all?

Of the two options you present, the former is better. The earlier in the title your key words/phrases appear, the better.

And unless it's absolutely essential, you can leave out the company name altogether. I wouldn't do that, though, if either of these two conditions exist:

-- you expect a fair amount of searches to be done on the actual company name

-- your client demands their name be up there no matter what :-)

Company Name helps in Branding of your website on those SERPS. But if you are in competetive market then try to keep short titles. If you are in very competetive market then again keep the Company name and search for more Links.

Just a thought -

But if you don't have the company name in the title tags when a user bookmarks the page it will not be as distinguishable from other sites in competition with you own.

I would go for

'Widgets, Gadgets, and Keyword from Smith Brothers'

for the same reasons pleeker mentions.
