For example if I sold books, I would have all of my selection at the main site "www.book-site.com", but I would create catagory specific sites such as "www.mystery-book.com" and "www.science-fiction-book.com".
The copy for the product descriptions would be the same between the side site and that catogory on the main site. Also, there would be links on the side site back to the main site such as "For books on other topics click here".
The main site has been around for a few years and has a good Google PR and ranks well for my main keywords, so I do not want to jepordise that traffic, however I want to create these themed side sites to attract more trageted traffic to that specific content.
What are some things I need to be careful about to avoid angering the Google Gods?
Thanks,
Eric
Now on to the subject matter:
I would say that these may be considered doorway pages.
Another consideration is that Google does not seem to like cross linked websites.
There have been many discussions on both subjects.
Use the WebmasterWorld "site search" link above, try searching for 'doorway pages' and 'cross linking'.
