Text links vs image buttons for SEO

Which performs better? you can attach more code to an image button, ie. name, alt, title, etc. but which so the spiders prefer if any?

The wording (anchor text) in a text link is far more valuable in SEO terms than name, alt, title,.

A keyword in the anchor text is worth alot more than any alt text, alt is a usability issue not a seo issue. :)

By using some simple CSS you can have a text link that looks just like a graphic button - the best of both worlds :)
