Hello. I've had my site up for a couple of months now. Google is just starting to crawl it and I paid for submission to Inktomi.
I read through and followed the article 26 steps to 15k.
I've read through a number of posts on this board but I can't figure out what I can do to help move it up in the ratings.
I purchased and used a program called addweb6 but there was no improvement.

Could anyone offer any advice on how to proceed please?

Thanks

Keith

Problem 1: Your page rank is greyed out on most pages including home page. Some interiors have a page rank of 0.

Keith, run a search on grey toolbar on WW to determine the possible reasons for this which may include some form of penalty to Google simply not indexing you yet, especially considering you are seeing the bot for the first time most recently.

kauction,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]!

You must be in a very competitive market if you have read and implemented all those tips. Keep digging through the library links in the various forums, and post specific questions. We'll be glad to help out where we can.

It takes anywhere from 30 to 60 days to establish your pages in Google, and can take up to 90 days for all of your backlinks to show. One of the hard-but-necessary lessons of SEO is learning patience. If you've only had your pages and incoming links up for two months, it may just be a matter of waiting for the next big update. Some of the other search engines may find you and list you faster - FAST/AlltheWeb and Inktomi are pretty quick.

Best,
Jim

I can't come up with any good reason for the grey toolbar.
I used Microsoft Frontpage to create the page and used a template. But the page itself isn't a frame page. WHen I look at the source I don't see any frame references.

There are other pages from the site that are indexed just not the index.htm.

keith, i think jdMorgans advice is most sound. let the next crawl take place and continue to learn. if the site is not indexed next month, post again. if i had to guess, which is not that appropriate, Keith, I would say you haven't been indexed fully. If this is wrong, I would then look into this addweb6 program that you reference you used. Common wisdom is to stay away from lesser known bulk submission package. Lastly, when you talk about penalty, this doesn't address frames. It addresses purposeful intent to trick search engines through spamming and other deceiptful linking tactics. I don't think you are the type of person to of had engaged in such activity. Got run to boston now.. good luck.
