Unknown User Agent

Block or Not?

Hi All

Just checking through our stats for one of our sites and has appeared that we are getting a quite a few visits from "a" or "various" unknown user agents.

What would these be? Could they be an undesirable spider, a genuine spider or a browser not recognized by our system?

We could block all requests from unknown user agents but will that stop genuine spiders or unknown user browsers?

Why would you want to stop them from hitting your site?
