This is probably not the kind of question to ask. But I just hope that anyone will share their precious information with me.

What to submit when, how many times and how?

I checked all great posts here and in a summary it is saying this:

Support me to say that Google is different. They index pages, which have no backward links at all and are never submitted before. This must mean that they are different and that submitting manually every day or automated submissions are useless, a waste of time and a waste of money.

However, the other search engines need some attention and like to see submissions. (Or just don't have those great crawlers as the Googlebot.) However don't oversubmit again, otherwise they will go crazy.

Can you confirm this?
Brett?
GoogleGuy?

Please end the fight that is going on here.

Hi Wired Suzanne,

I think you'll find a consensus here on two points.

First: Automated submissions will get you into trouble as they are specifically against most major SE terms of service. Don't even think about it.

Second: Submit once, then wait.

Well, not really wait. Continue to add content, keep your pages updated, tweak them here or there and continue to add backlinks. In short, give the spiders something to feed on, something new and tasty.

I suspect that many of the folks here are the same as me and can't remember the last time they submitted a page and the sites are still regularly crawled.

Jim

And what about submitting pages or only the main page?

Does that differ per SE?

Most of the submission pages on the important engines are spammed out. The real key is establishing quality links then, if the site has not been picked up through the links, consider submitting the home page, but only once.
