Hi
This is my first post.
I'm currently ranked high in google/yahoo/msn for certain search terms e.g 'Leeds Accommodation', 'bath accommodation' and so on, but what i really want is to be ranked higher for 'leeds hotels', 'bath hotels' etc, which currently are way way down the list.
I know that the keyword 'hotels' has more competition, but wondered if i could sneek up a bit if i changed my directory name and a few other things which may have aided my great placement for the accommodation searches.
All my accommodation/hotel pages are in a folder /accommodation/
and throughout my site i have several links to /accommodation/index.html
Is this where themes come into play? Is this why for the search term 'nameofplace accommodation' i am doing extremely well as apose to the term 'nameofplace hotels'?
If this is the case, i really think i should change my directory name, and the text of the links throughout my site. Hotels is the keyword i need to target, with accommodation a close second. I'm not sure whether the directory name is the key here. I dont want to change it if it wont make much difference.
Many thanks for any responce
Chris

Im not sure you're allowed to post specifics, id check the TOS [webmasterworld.com]

but you might try reading bretts post on successful site in 12 months and see if anything from there applies to your site, which undoubtedly it will :)

This is my first post, so be kind :)

I read, printed out, and re-read Brett's post. Great stuff, those Brett's sure know their stuff :)

Anywho, Brett didn't answer the question of this thread though. He just alluded to the fact that both all root and keyword directories seemed to work fine. Any know what the pluses and minuses of both methods are? Or know of a thread that discusses it?

The "site search" isn't working as I post this (although it was working earlier).

Chris,

Since many people cannot spell "accommodation", try a second directory with a misspelling (single m is more likely).
