I am looking for a source that I could quote on the relation between search engines and online purchase.
Something like xx% of online purchase are generated from customers using a search engine.

Anyone knows of an article or source that has this type of data?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Philippe

I think you may struggle finding a figure like the one you are after. There are a few more factors in there that would affect this figure. A site could produce 100% of its visitors from search engines but be so poor in converting those visits to sales that the resulting value you are after is shifted big time. The same site could be made more user friendly and still receive a large number of hits but now it is easier to buy and say 50% convert (that’s VVery high by the way :)). Which figure do you quote?

Not sure what you are going to use the figures for but you may be better in looking for trends in where traffic come from, but that again is crammed with variables (offline advertising, link exchanges etc)

You may get lucky and one of the members here will give you a percentage of visitors from the various sources but that will be dependant also on what sort of site they have. The possible variables and factors are immense.

Cheers
