Hallo, I'm sorry if it was already asked, what does it mean SEO?

I often read it in posts.

Thx in advance :)

Even though it means Search Engine Optimization, it's not actually optimizing search engines. It's optimizing web pages and web sites to get high placement at the search engines.

You could add, "attempt to get higher placement in the search engines" to that. :)

Things can always happen to prevent yesterday's techniques from working tomorrow. (the main reason we are here...to talk about it, and stay ahead of the game).

fabriZio, you might want to check out the Search Engine World glossary by following the link at the top of the page (or this one [searchengineworld.com]), because there are probably more commonly used terms worth brushing up on.

Hello, also have a question that has to do with search engines, Google to be precise.

What means PR, e.g PR2 or PR6?

Is it on which site you are listed if you search for a keyword or is it the positon?

Can I have a PR of 0 and does that mean being on the first site? And PR5 would be fifth site?

Thanks

Didn't find anything on wether it is the page or the number of the entry.

Although, thanks for the answer.

Guenni, in this resource you'll find everything you need to get started with understanding Google.:
[webmasterworld.com...]
All basic concepts, like page rank (=PR), are explained, it's really a fanatstic introduction.

Okay, think now I got it:
The higher the PR the better, right? And maximum is 10.

Thats right Guenni, 10 is the top PageRank you can get. It is very difficult to get this top rank. Google, Yahoo and Microsoft all have a PR10 to name a few.
