Hi, I am new here... first thing I have learned is that I am wasting my money paying "register everywhere" type of service... I paid for a year service where they will register me in ten zillion search engines every month for a year.

This automated submission service submits the first of every month, typically I rank in the top 10 a few days to a few weeks after submission in Google, Yahoo, MSN and all is great. But after about 1-2 weeks, my rankings fall off the map... when I check the cache on google it has an older version of the web site that does not rank as high. Why?

Is there something wrong with my meta tags? Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld customdy!

First off, I would suggest that you stop wasting your money on these services. They are nothing more than a scam using automated tools. Search engine submissions have almost become extinct. When your website is developed and optimized, fully, you will need to submit your website to one or two search engines that still offer free webpage submission, but the rest will either require paid submission or find your webpages through links on other websites.

Secondly, your Meta Tags will have almost no bearing on your rankings. There are very few search engines that pay attention to these tags, and the ones that do place very little emphasis on them within their algorithm for ranking webpages.

Instead, optimize your webpages for your target keywords by focusing on the basics of SEO:

- Title tags
- Alt tags
- Link titles
- Link text
- Validated, clean, HTML code
- Keyword rich content
- Other

Thanks for the quick reply and advise... I will not waste any more money with these register everywhere services...

Can you explain why Google and Yahoo keep reverting back to older version of my web site? I have spent alot of time
with SEO as you have suggested and if I can get my newer
version of the web site with SEO to stay in the search engine cache I typically rank in the top ten for my target keywords. Seems like the "newer" SEO site lasts about 1-2 weeks and then it back to the older non SEO site.

Thanks
