We have a Yahoo store, which gives info on referrals from various SE's, directories, etc.

Among those is a "revenue per visit", which basically indicates how much was purchased on average per referral.

The interesting thing is that some, such as Google, Yahoo shopping, and MSN are fairly high - in the 65 cent to $2 range.

Others, like Ask Jeeves and Ask.com, are abysmal - in the 2 to 5 cent range.

Yet, in many cases they are using the same search results and/or sponsored links.

My theory (feel free to flame it!) is that users of sites like Ask Jeeves tend to be younger and/or less net savvy and either have no money, or are afraid to spend money online.

I would say Ask is probably for researches more than buyers.
Also Ask have a very broad audience in the UK, so if you can't purchase your products from the UK the value will of course go down.
Otherwise interesting data.
