Effect tables has on search engines

I commonly use structuring tables on every page I create. I have been trying to learn all I can about how search engines find sites and I was wondering if anyone knew if having content in tables limited the likelihood of a search engine finding that content?

Also, I have an entry point into my main site, where users can choose either the Flash-enabled site or a non-Flash site. Not much content is on that page so I included most of the vital info about myself in the alt tags of the images I had there. What does everyone know about the difference in weight the bots give to regular text vs. text in alt tags?

Thanks-

Scott

Content in tables is just fine, but the simpler the better. Try not to have too many nested tables.

Not a great idea in my opinion. I would add more content or have the Non-Flash index page be the first page and then have an option from there for the Flash site.

Text has more weight than ALT tags.
