I'm wondering if there are any more traditional marketing/advertising discussions here? If not, why not? The only stuff in the "Marketing" forums are about search engines, spiders, etc. etc. Why nothing about more traditional website promotion tools (offline advertising, press releases, etc.)? I'm asking because I'm building a company with a new web service and thinking about how to market it.
Thanks and thanks for all the info!
We do have an affiliate and advertising forum, a webmaster general forum, and a couple other related forums:

Try the site search at the top of the page for "offline advertising"...

For instance, Google. Google is such a hot topic that the discussions have had to be divided up, to the point where the toolbar has it's own forum for discussion.
Welcome to WW, I look forward to hearing from you. Nobody will kill you or flame you. I think the criticism here is mainly of the constructive sort.
Feel free to contribute traditional marketing ideas. Obviously our 'niche' at WebmasterWorld is related to the web, hence all the discussions - but we have had some discussions about regular marketing topics and people here love to discuss all kinds of ideas. So don't be afraid to start those kinds of threads!
welcome to Webmasterworld.
1 of the things that could be the factor is the fact that a lot of webmasters have always been more on the techy side, and before the web, Marketers > Techies never really mixed.
The web has changed all that, and yesterdays Techie is todays SEO, and tomorrows Advertiser.
You raise an interesting topic about Press Releases, and yes this is a quiet area around here, but a site search will reveal, lots of postings on this topic have been made but just scattered around in different forums.
I hope the above makes sense, but as usual I am even confusing myself, so hope you understand what I am getting at.
