I received an email this morning from a client who has a large online casino and needs someone to do his SEO and Placement, if you are interested and have proven experience with top 5 listings for casino's please email me for details. Brett if you are interested you have first dibs.
The reason i am packing it in, is that one of my employee's tried an experiment a month ago that backfired. She tried hiding links with css, and now it looks like AV has banned us and 5 clients. WOW what a mistake that was. STUPID STUPID STUPID, 3 years and no bans, not a bad record until now. Now if i can just figure out how to get the ban lifted i will be laughing. Never had to worry about it before.</rant>
Is this ban with AV by any chance ? as I'm in a similar situation. so should get get any info I'ld like to hear from you, I've been sending e-mails to AV now for around 2/3 weeks with not even a single reply, other than the standard generated reply that realy P****** me off. 2 days, the longest 2 days of my life !! sorry getting fed up with this, by the sound of things like yourself.
I think all these SE should remember that we too are also their clients and they should get down from that pedestal their on.
Oh well thats my rant for the weekend oh-hum, anyone from the uk catch big brother - what a man to just give it all away, good on you craig and what a great top divina :)
I am going to wait until at least the next update (Monday) before i do anything rash. Sure would be nice to know exactly what happened. I don't think it was the hidden links in css that did it. I think another webmaster from a rival company may be to blame. AV doesn't index css yet as far as i know, so it had to be a human complaint they acted on. I will keep you informed on the happenings, i would appreciate the same from your end, if you have any luck getting the ban lifted.
Back during the spring I got banned (like a lot of people) from AV and I sent them an email (like a lot of people) pleading my case. I put a lot of content in the email referring to the company itself (alliances, size, etc.) - pretty much name dropping as well as outlining my whole optimization plan and asking them to notify me if any of my efforts were in contradiction to their rules. I also left numerous links to big name sites that had linked to us or included banners. Well, it seemed to work. :) Anyways, the moral of the story is don't give up and the good old fashion name dropping of the influential companies that keep these SEs going still helps. GOOD LUCK!
